Tonight there was a murder story.  Apparently a family got into a fight and the husband or somebody snapped and they all got killed they said they didn't know it was a triple homicide or a murder suicide.
There was a 1 minute story on a car crash.
There was a 1 minute story on a forest fire.
There was a story on Michelle Bachman and her champian run
There was a story on a U.S. Marine who received the Medal of Honer

Notetaking on Camera Techniques

INTERVIEWING:
• What seven items should you bring with you when you are shooting an interview?
(Clocks Tick Tock Making Heads Pound Loudly)
Camera
Tripod
Tape
Microphone
Headphones
Power
Lights

• Shooting into a light source = Silhouette



• Where do you want your light source? Behind the camera


• On what object should you focus the camera? Zoom in on the person's nose

White balance
• No tripod=Bad.  You should always have a tripod


• Date and Time=Never should have a time stamp, display botton


• SP/EP SP is standard play and EP is extended play you always want to shoot it without having to adjust it

• Camera shoots in ________________.

• Pre-Roll- a few seconds to let  the camera start. Usually  2-3 seconds


• Post-Roll- a few seconds before turning the camera off


CAMERA SHOTS:

***BACKGROUND: Dynamic= Has some depth, not plain.  Interviewee is at least 6-8 form the background.

• 1 Shot= middle of the chest to the top of the head, microphones are to be heard not seen.

• 1 Shot with graphic= over the shoulder graphic.

• 2 Shot= is only for anchors

• CU- closs up

• MS- medium shot 

• LS- long shot

• ECU- Extreme Close Up ELS Extreme Long  Shot

• Rule of thirds- place the important elements on the hormonal lines of the rule of thrids


CAMERA MOVEMENTS:
• Tilt- Up and Down


• Pan- moving the camera form left to right


• Zoom- getting closer are father away


• Dolly- Camera on wheels

LIGHTS
• Key- Light The main bright light 


• Fill-Light fills in the shadows


• Back-Light separates the interview form the background


MICROPHONES:
• Unidirectional-A microphone that pics up one direction

• Omnidirectional It comes from all direction. Microphone that's on top of the camera

• Cardiod Its shaped like a heart 

• Lav/Lapel Microphone Is when you can clip on your shirt

• Boom Microphone Its a Microphone on a poll. Its a Unidirectional Microphone.
